I only see one sender on their site like yours and its 1/8npt thread correct? Are you saying that the sender will not fit all the way through the for the m12x1. Has as anyone else run across this issue and how did you resolve it. The ohm rating for the speedhut gauge is 240-33 ohms (140F-280F), which is specific to their gauges just like Autometer has different ohm rating for theirs. Good news is I have some easy outs that worked like a charm with no damage to the head or threads. I can tell you that option 1 does not work as I snapped the fitting off inside the head. Drill out the head to allow the 1/2" NPT fitting to fit and use the speedhut sensor. Machine the sensor diameter to fit the adapter.ģ. That sensor sends a ' resistance signal' (not voltage) back to the gauge or idiot light depending what is used. The temp gauge sensor should be on the drivers side cylinder head between exhaust ports 1 and 3 with one single dark green wire attached. Drill out the adapter to allow the sensor to fit.Ģ. 'ALL' GM temp sensors run on variable resistance (thermistor) to ground, no voltages whatsoever. The diameter of the sensor does not fit into the adapter for the LS3. The fitting on the left is what threads into the head which is 1/8" NPT. resistance should be 1425 at 100f (cold) and should decrease as it warms up. put 1 lead on the pin in the plug of the sensor, and the other anywhere on the sensor body. You can confirm the correct sensor by verifying the resistance. 1984 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z 2.2L 5-speed 160K miles. Sensor part number GM 25037332 Pigtail Standard S963. It drops very rapidly with heating, until at normal engine temperature, the reading is between 6 ohms. 25K ohm or so is normal for perhaps 30F ambient temperature. These are very standard fittings when installing the sensor in the manifold. Coolant temp sensors have a very steep temp vs resistance curve. I bought speedhut gauges that come with a temp sensor fitting into an 1/2" NPT adapter (two pieces on the left). My LA3 has two temp sensor locations, one on the driver side for the computer and one on the passenger side for your gauge.
