The City of Eugene provides free information regarding flood hazards for specific sites within the community and can answer many of your flood-related questions. B Zones may have local, shallow flooding problems. SFHAs are labeled as Zone A, Zone AO, Zone. The 1-percent annual chance flood is also referred to as the base flood or 100-year flood. SFHA are defined as the area that will be inundated by the flood event having a 1-percent chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given year. ’Shaded’ Zone X: Area of moderate flood hazard usually depicted on FIRMs as between the limits of the base and 500-year floods of the primary source of flooding. Flood hazard areas identified on the Flood Insurance Rate Map are identified as a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA). The shaded Zone X corresponds to Zone B and the unshaded Zone X corresponds to Zone C. A flood zone is an area that has a 1 chance of being flooded in any given year. Zone X: Newer FIRMs show Zones B and C as Zone X. AE flood zones are areas that present a 1 annual chance of flooding and a 26 chance over the life of a 30-year mortgage, according to FEMA. If your home is in a designated flood zone, your lender requires you to have flood insurance. Base flood depths (feet above grade) are provided.
